Student conference at the FLAE
The International Student Scientific Conference is a cyclical event, taking place at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław for the 21st time. This year’s edition was entitled „Od badań do rozwiązań. Nauki społeczne wobec kryzysów i nierówności w XXI w.”. The subject matter covered was a continuation of the proceedings of last year’s jubilee conference entitled „Ekonomia i nauki społeczne wobec kryzysów XXI wieku”. In 2023, we discussed, researched and identified several crises. In 2024, we invited the search for solutions and opportunities, shifting our attention to the applied, practical dimension of the social sciences in the face of inequalities and crises in the 21st century.
The conference featured 83 speakers from 28 centres in Poland and five speakers from four centres abroad. We had the opportunity to listen to a number of extremely interesting presentations addressing issues such as economic, local, climate and mental health crises, as well as disputes in social science practice, theory and methodology. There were also themes of inequality in the academic hierarchy and gender studies in response to gender inequality. There was a strong emphasis on finding solutions and activism and community participation in response to crises.
The 21st conference was organised by the Institute of Economics, the Institute of Sociology, the Willy Brandt Center for German and European Studies, the Scientific Association of Economists, the UWr Debate Club and the UWr Scientific Association for Interdisciplinary European Activities.
The 21st conference received the honorary patronage of the Rector of the University of Wrocław and the patronage of Collegium Invisibile and PwC.
