Success of the University Legal Clinic at the UWr Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics!
In the nationwide ranking of student university legal clinics (law clinics), published today by Rzeczpospolita, the University Legal Clinic operating at the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław has taken first place!
Our warmest congratulations go to prof. Joanna Kuźmicka-Sulikowska and dr Agnieszka Kwiecień-Madej – under whose supervision the Clinic operates – and, of course, to all the students involved.
– Thanks to our increased organisational efforts, we have moved up from second place in previous years to first place! – prof. Joanna Kuźmicka-Sulikowska shared enthusiastically.
Ranking methodology for the 2024/2025 academic year
The ranking is compiled based on statistical data and information collected by the Foundation of University Legal Clinics through its annual statistical summaries. Importantly, the numerical data and achievements underlying the ranking are based on the previous academic year, not the current one, which has yet to conclude and be summarised.
The ranking of student university legal clinics (also referred to as law clinics) was developed using a methodology that takes into account four key criteria central to the operation of law clinics. These are:
- the ratio of students involved in clinics to the number of supervisors,
- the placement of the clinics within the university’s organisational structure,
- operation in accordance with standards defined by the Foundation of University Legal Clinics,
- and activity that goes beyond the core responsibilities of the clinics.
The final criterion includes five major categories:
- organising conferences focused on legal aid and the teaching of law through practice, or engaging in international cooperation such as study visits and other international projects,
- conducting workshops, training sessions, and meetings with legal practitioners for clinic students, enabling them to continuously improve their skills,
- establishing cooperation with NGOs and public institutions,
- organising mock trials, which significantly enhance students’ legal competencies,
- and any other activities aimed at increasing public awareness of legal issues.
More details on the ranking methodology can be found on Rzeczpospolita‘s website.
