Summary of the fourth edition of the International BEYOND LANGUAGE 2024 Conference

„Just reading articles, books and newspapers is not enough. You need to spend time, a lot of time, with people who know, from experience, what they are talking about”. Daniel Tammet (2017) 2022

The fourth edition of the international conference of young researchers BEYOND LANGUAGE 2024 is already a thing of the past.

This year, speakers from Israel, Romania, Ukraine, Dresden, Ireland, Wrocław, Poznań, Kraków, Olsztyn, Gdańsk and Warsaw met for four days in May at the Jagiellonian University (UJ), the University of Wrocław (UWr), Adam Mickiewicz University (UAM) and online to discuss, among other things: humor, Chinese novels, Georgian verbs, Dongba symbols, the language of poetry, the etymology of words, map grammar, mythical heroes, Homeric comparisons, syncretic cultural forms, interference of worlds and melic translation.

The BEYOND LANGUAGE conference is an eclectic festival of science and knowledge, proof of Albert Einstein’s assumption that curiosity has its own reason for existing. It is an international event dedicated to young scientists and researchers of language, literature and culture understood as key social patterns of human behavior, who deal with current research problems and methods of conducting research in the fields of anthropological linguistics, ethnography of communication, translation and interpretation studies, literary studies, social sciences, religion and culture – in perspective beyond language.

Science enthusiasts can freely share their research results and use the results of other scientists without incurring any conference fees. Participation in the conference is free.

Speech and presentation authors can also submit their scientific articles at no cost to be published in our periodical Academic Journal of Modern Philology (ISSN 2299–7164; e-ISSN 2353–3218). The Academic Journal of Modern Philology is published open-source and without fees. Scientists can freely disseminate their research results and use the research results of other scientists to ensure that science expenditures are used as efficiently as possible.
