“Tatars in Poland”: English-language podcast featuring a UWr Researcher

We are pleased to announce the release of the first episode of the English-language podcast “Tatars in Poland: Adopted Homeland”, co-created by dr Ewa Górska from the University of Wrocław and prof. Maurits Berger from Leiden University. This unique project explores one of the oldest Muslim communities in Europe – the Polish Tatars.

The podcast delves into the history, everyday life, and identity of Tatars in Poland. Its content is based on field research, interviews with community members, and the analysis of archival sources. The creators also address broader topics related to religion, cultural belonging, and the legal challenges faced by religious and ethnic minorities in Europe.

The project was made possible with the support of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław. Its aim is to promote awareness of the heritage and present-day life of this remarkable community, which has been part of Polish history for over six centuries.

The podcast consists of eight episodes, which will be released weekly. It is available on popular streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Podcasts, as well as on the project’s official website: www.tatarpodcast.eu.

We warmly invite you to listen and discover the fascinating world of Polish Tatars!
