The Future Unlimited development programme from Smith+ Nephew and the Academic Career Office has been launched

Multinational corporations are among the most frequently chosen workplaces by graduates of our university. A diverse business profile, a multicultural environment, interesting career paths are just some of the advantages that attract young people.

How do you prepare to work in an international business environment? How do you acquire and develop the key competences that guarantee success in a corporation? How do you find your place in such a huge structure to make the most of your potential?

These and other questions will be answered by Future Unlimited, a programme designed for those planning a career in a large international company. Sessions developing specialist, interpersonal and self-organisation competences will certainly help participants to gain self-confidence and decide on their future career choices. The programme is aimed at female and male students from all fields of study and is conducted entirely in English.

On 13 March, more than a hundred participants officially began their adventure with the programme. During the opening ceremony, female and male students were welcomed by Dominika Buczkowska, head of the Academic Career Office, and Natalia Karakostas, Site Delivery Manager at Smith+Nephew and Jarek Tanaś, FP&A Director at Smith+Nephew.

What awaits those taking part in the programme?

The programme consists of three main modules and a wrap-up meeting.

  1. Introductory module – getting to know the basics of the Global Business Services market and Smith+Nephew’s business.
  2. Specialist module – five online sessions covering key business areas:
  • Finance and Accounting,
  • data analytics,IT and innovation,customer service,
  • human resources.

3. Key skills development module:
– communication,
– public speaking,
– career development,
– personal branding,
– time management and prioritisation.
The programme will culminate in a meeting at the Smith+Nephew office, where participants will take part in workshops with recruiters, CV consultations and preparation for interviews. Those who complete the programme will receive a certificate.

The high level of interest in the programme has shown that it fits the needs of the University’s female students, and the commitment we observed at the launch allows us to say that the participants will make the most of the opportunities on offer.
