The recruitment has just started!
From 3 June we invite you to register to study at the University of Wrocław! As every year, we have several thousand places on full-time and part-time studies of the first- and second-cycle studies as well as long-cycle studies! Approximately 150 fields of study and 300 specialisations are waiting for you – natural sciences, law and social sciences, science and technology, humanities and philology. Recruitment schedules vary depending on the field of study, degree and form of studies, so be sure to check them out in our recruitment service www.rekrutacja.uni.wroc.pl. On this website, you will also find descriptions of all fields of study and specialisations, recruitment principles, place limits, information for foreigners and olympics students, necessary contacts to faculty recruitment commissions and Candidate Vademecum, i.e. recruitment in a nutshell.
How to take part in recruitment?
All you need to do is enter our Online Candidate Registration System IRK, which can be found at www.irka.uni.wroc.pl. You need to set up an account there, fill in your personal details and information about your education, tick all the subjects you passed at secondary school graduation (not only those which are taken into account in the recruitment process for the field of study of your choice, but all of them), select the fields of study you wish to recruit to, upload a photo for your student identity card (a photo like the one for an ID card will be very good, of course a digital version is enough, not a paper one) and pay a recruitment fee of PLN 85 for one field of study. It is important that the recruitment fee ‘comes out’ of your bank account by the last day of registration in the IRK system (what day is that? It depends on the field of study you wish to enrol in – check the timetable at www.rekrutacja.uni.wroc.pl). It may take a few days for the fee to be posted, but don’t worry – the most important thing is the date of the transfer. Don’t wait until your school-leaving exams are over to register with the IRK system! Why not? Because doing such an important thing at the last minute can generate mistakes and unnecessary stress. If you want to add new fields of study to your IRK account after your school-leaving exams have been awarded, or if you want to drop out of the programme you have already chosen, you can do so until the last day of your IRK registration. This year’s secondary school leavers, once they have received their school-leaving certificate results, must access their IRK account and enter their results. This is very important and should be kept in mind. Those who matriculated in previous years can enter their results even today.
What next?
Once registration closes, faculty committees will get to work. In accordance with the recruitment rules, those candidates who score the most recruitment points in relation to the limit of places will be admitted to first-cycle and long-cycle studies. How are the points calculated? You can check this in the recruitment service after selecting your major, in the ‘zasady’ (eg. rules) tab. For second-cycle studies, grades from the diploma of completed studies may be taken into account, for some fields of study there may also be interviews or practical exams (but these are really rare). On the day the recruitment results are announced (check the timetable at www.rekrutacja.uni.wroc.pl for when this will be), candidates will need to log into their IRK account and check their status. A qualified candidate (to submit documents) is a person who will be able to deliver documents to the admissions committee on the dates set out in the schedule, but is also a person who IS NOT yet admitted to the university. Once a qualified candidate has submitted the documents, he/she will still have to wait for the final decision of the admissions committee and only when he/she sees the status ‘kandydat przyjęty’ (eg. candidate accepted) in IRK, will he/she be sure to have a place to study at UWr. On the day the recruitment results are announced, candidates may also see the status ‘kandydat rezerwowy’ (reserve candidate). Such people DO NOT submit documents, but wait for the results of the next recruitment rounds. If there are any, they participate in them automatically, without re-registering or registering with the admissions committee. A ‘kandydat nieprzyjęty’ (eg. non-admitted candidate) is a person who has not fulfilled the formalities, e.g. has not paid the recruitment fee.
When selecting your field of study at the University of Wrocław, you may find the previous year’s course popularity ranking helpful. You can find it here.
