The Rectors’ Council of the Arqus partner universities met in Granada
The Rectors’ Council of the Arqus partner universities met in Granada on 13 February 2026 at the University of Granada to discuss key strategic issues concerning the future of the Alliance.
The meeting was hosted by the University of Granada and chaired by Rector Pedro Mercado at the Hospital Real (Rectorate), one of the University’s most emblematic historic buildings.
The Rectors’ Council is the highest decision-making body of Arqus and plays a central role in defining the Alliance’s long-term vision and governance. The Granada meeting was an important event for Arqus, as it provided an opportunity to discuss and approve the Arqus Mission Statement and the Joint Long-term Strategy 2026–2035. In addition to the formal sessions, the programme also included a short guided walk, enabling participants to appreciate Granada’s cultural heritage and highlighting the connection between Arqus meetings and the local academic and cultural context of the host institutions.
