The successful 17th Summer Doctoral Workshop at the University of Wrocław is behind us!

The 17th Summer Doctoral Workshop took place from 29 June to 1 July 2025, organised by the Institute of Administrative Sciences of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics at the University of Wrocław, together with the University of Wrocław Law, Administration and Economics Faculty Alumni Association “Uniwersytecka”.

Thirteen doctoral students from various academic centres took part in the workshop. The Jury – composed of distinguished academics, administrative court judges, and members/presidents of local government appeal boards (dr hab. Dorota Dąbek, prof. UJ; dr Dagmara Dominik-Ogińska; dr hab. Barbara Kowalczyk; dr hab. Martyna Wilbrandt-Gotowicz, prof. UKSW; prof. dr hab. Bogdan Dolnicki (UŚ); dr hab. Przemysław Kledzik, prof. US; prof. dr hab. Wojciech Piątek (UAM); dr hab. Piotr Pietrasz, prof. UwB; dr hab. Piotr Rączka, prof. UMK; dr hab. Krzysztof Sobieralski, prof. UWr; prof. dr hab. Jerzy Supernat – Chair of the Jury of the 17th Summer Doctoral Workshop; and prof. dr hab. Jan Paweł Tarno – the initiator of the workshop) selected three winners:

  1. mgr Piotr Ostrowski (UAM)  – 1st place for the presentation of the paper Sądowa kontrola aktu powołania na urząd sędziego. Uwagi na tle prawa polskiego i francuskiego;
  2. mgr Piotr Oliński (UG) – 2nd place for the presentation of the paper Konstytucyjny ustrój gospodarczy jako dyrektywa wykładni przepisów prawa administracyjnego na przykładzie polskiego i unijnego prawa konkurencji, zaś
  3. mgr Michał Szudrowicz (UAM)  – 3rd place for the presentation of the paper Droga do zawodu sędziego sądu administracyjnego w ujęciu porównawczym.

Additionally, prof. dr hab. Jan Paweł Tarno awarded a personal distinction to mgr Daniel Zero for the presentation of the paper Prawa elementów biosfery. Notably, the doctoral students themselves also selected a laureate from among their peers – mgr Piotr Ostrowski. Double congratulations!

The workshop, which featured doctoral presentations, accompanying discussions, and an expert panel with members of the Jury, provided an excellent opportunity for exchanging views and experiences. It enabled young researchers to present the results of their studies and engage in discussions on theoretical, methodological, and practical issues related to public administration and administrative law in a comparative perspective.

We extend our thanks to: the City of Oława, the Town and Municipality of Strzelin, the District Bar Council in Wrocław, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław, the Voivodeship Administrative Court in Wrocław, and Presscom Sp. z o.o. – without whose support and goodwill the organisation of the 17th Summer Doctoral Workshop would not have been possible.

The Organising Committee of the 17th Workshop consisted of: dr hab. Piotr Lisowski, prof. UWr; dr hab. Barbara Kowalczyk; prof. dr hab. Jerzy Supernat; dr Piotr Janiak; dr Paweł Majczak; and dr Adam Ostapski.

The next workshop (18th) will take place in Toruń next year – we look forward to seeing you there!
