The Times Higher Education World University Rankings is one of the most prestigious and extensive rankings of higher education institutions, assessing over 2,000 universities worldwide.
The THE WUR rankings compare universities engaged in intensive research activities, considering their key objectives: teaching, research, knowledge transfer, and International Outlook.
Universities are assessed in five areas, each with a specific percentage weight that contributes to the overall score:
1. Teaching: 29.5%
2. Research Environment (productivity, reputation, research income): 29%
3. Research Quality (research excellence, citation impact): 30%
4. International Outlook (international staff, students, and collaboration): 7.5%
5. Industry (patents and income from commercial activities): 4%
Each of these categories consists of several indicators, with a total of 18.
The ranking institution gathers data from several sources: surveys completed by higher education institutions, the Scopus bibliographic database (publications and citations), and reputation surveys conducted by Times Higher Education among researchers worldwide.
