Theraputic fairy tale helps young refugees

Another edition of the story of Ola and Boris has reached Ukrainian children.

“Ola, Borys and their new friends” is a therapeutic fairy tale written by psychologists, lecturers at the University of Wrocław and the SWPW University of Humanities and Social Sciences. Prof. Dariusz Galasinski (UWr) and prof. Justyna Ziółkowska (SWPS) created it in the first weeks of the war. Their team, working pro bono, tried to make the story a professional therapeutic tool to help children adapt in new conditions.

Thanks to the financial support of Amazon Fulfillment Poland, as well as the cooperation of UWr, SWPS and the Zaczytani Foundation, the next edition of the fairy tale went to numerous institutions and organisations helping refugees and war refugees from Ukraine. These include:

  • in Wrocław: Municipal Social Welfare Centre, Critical Education Association, Project “Dach nad Głowa”;
  • in Opole: Conference of Bibliotherapists, City Promotion Office;
  • in Warsaw: Multicultural Centre, Polish Centre for International Aid, Ukrainian House, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Clinic of SWPS University in Warsaw, Tomice Refugee Centre, Refugee Education and Support Centre in Konstancin;
  • in Katowice: City Hall;in Tri-city: Gdansk City Hall, Pomeranian Voivodeship Office, Gdynia City Hall;
  • in Poznań: Social Emergency Association, International OPEN Foundation, Foundation for Adaptation and Development of Bilingual Children and Youth “Bilingwo”, Julia Woykowska Foundation, Foundation Centre for Women’s Rights | Poznań Branch, Recovered Foundation, SWPS Project “Lotne zespoły wsparcia psychologicznego refugees from Ukraine”, Territorial Committee for the Protection of Children’s Rights.

In Wrocław, the therapeutic fairy tale will be given, among others, to children from families included in the Dach nad Głowa project, which involved the staff of the University of Wrocław, the Greek Catholic Caritas and the PTAch Foundation.

The authors of the fairy tale announce that they are already working on the second part. We look forward to the story of the further fate of Ola and Boris.

The project “Integrated Program for the Development of the University of Wrocław 2018-2022” co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund
