To understand and be understood – workshops at the Service Team for Support and Accessibility

In June and July, the Service Team for Support and Accessibility hosted a series of effective communication workshops for students and doctoral students at the University of Wrocław. We held four sessions, attended by over 50 participants.

The workshops took the form of intensive, practical classes during which participants gained new knowledge and improved specific skills in a friendly and safe atmosphere. The programme included exercises in active listening, identifying communication barriers, and working with non-verbal communication.

Participants learnt how to formulate “I” messages, explored the basics of Nonviolent Communication, and practised handling difficult conversations in tense situations. They also worked on how to respond to criticism and give constructive praise.

Student engagement was remarkable – they worked actively in pairs, took part in discussions, asked questions, and shared experiences. Thanks to jointly established ground rules, they were able to experiment freely and learn in a supportive environment.

The workshops were led by Maria Kaczmarek, a psychologist from the Service Team for Support and Accessibility, with the support of Jessica Moś.

We invite you to view a photo gallery from the workshops – photos by Paweł Piotrowski / University of Wrocław.
