Urban post-pandemic recovery – project summary
At the University of Szeged in Hungary, the event “Urban Post-COVID Recovery in the V4 Countries: Towards Effective Sectoral Policies?” came to a close. It brought together researchers and practitioners concerned with the functioning of municipal governments in the context of post-COVID-19 recovery. Scholars from the University of Wrocław also took part.
As the concluding stage of the international research project “Urban Post-COVID Recovery in the V4 Countries”, funded by the International Visegrad Fund (Strategic Grant), the meeting provided an opportunity to present the overall research findings produced within the project, as well as to exchange views and experiences on how municipal governments in the V4 states have responded to the challenges of post-pandemic recovery.
The participants included not only academics from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, but also practitioners. Contributions came from representatives of, among others, the University of Wrocław, Metropolitan University Prague, Comenius University in Bratislava, the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, and the University of Szeged, alongside municipal and regional officials, NGO representatives, and local entrepreneurs.
An important part of the proceedings was the “Young Practitioners Forum”, during which students and doctoral candidates analysed strategies for shaping urban policies in the post-pandemic crisis context, with a particular focus on harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence.
A highlight of the event was the launch of the book Urban Responses to the Covid-19 Pandemic: Perspectives of the Visegrad Group Countries published by Routledge.
The event was organised by dr hab. Kamil Glinka, prof. UWr, who served as project leader.
