
UWr develops international relations
On Tuesday, 12 March 2024, a working meeting was held between representatives of the University of Wrocław and Southern Illinois University (USA) on the development of research and teaching cooperation based on a signed bilateral agreement. The cooperation was initiated two years ago thanks to the support of the Lower Silesian Marshal’s Office.
Consultations between the parties concerned the development of interdisciplinary research based on the project to create a wider international network of academic centres, the launch of teaching activities led by international academics and aimed at promoting attitudes of student involvement in social activity, including – aid activities, intercultural dialogue, conflict resolution. One such project is the Culture Week programme currently underway in Wrocław, co-organised by the Cassirer Centre and the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Wrocław, as part of which students of many universities and nationalities learn about the history of American philosophy and Afro-American studies, among other things.
Southern Illinois University was represented by professors Kenneth Stikkers and Randall Auxier, while the University of Wrocław was represented by prof. dr hab. Artur Błażejewski, vice-rector for research; dr hab. Bartłomiej Krzan, prof. UWr, vice-dean for research and international cooperation of the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics; dr hab. Ilona Błocian, prof. UWr, director of the Institute of Philosophy, with her deputies dr hab. Paweł Korobczak and dr Paweł Wróblewski. The meeting was also attended by professors Gintautas Majejkis from Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas (Lithuania) and Mikołaj Wiśniewski from SWPS University. A special guest was Deputy Marshall of the Lower Silesian Voivodship Marcin Krzyżanowski.
