UWr in the Academic Safety and Equality Network
The University of Wrocław is a member of Akademicka Sieć Bezpieczeństwa i Równości (Academic Safety and Equality Network), which has been a registered association since April 2023. The association is the result of several years of informal networking meetings of a group of ombudsmen, rector plenipotentiaries and others working at Polish universities in the area of respecting the rights of members of the academic community and gender equality and violence prevention.
The association’s objectives are closely related to the mission of the higher education and science system, i.e. to provide the highest quality of education and scientific activity, to shape civic attitudes, as well as to participate in social development and the creation of an innovation-based economy, and to create optimal conditions for freedom of scientific research and artistic creativity, freedom of teaching and the autonomy of the academic community. Institutionalisation will allow the Academic Safety and Equality Network to develop its activities and enter into collaborations with organisations and institutions working for civil rights in higher education.
UWr at the Academic Safety and Equality Network is represented by the Rector’s representative for student and doctoral student safety dr Łukasz Prus – a member of the association’s management board, the spokesperson for equal treatment and anti-discrimination dr Małgorzata Kolankowska and dr Ariel Przybyłowicz, who was elected to the Audit Committee.
The association is based at the University of Rzeszów. The association is open to individuals who hold positions in higher education institutions, hold office or are active in the areas indicated in the statutes available on the website.
