UWr researchers among the world’s most influential [TOP 2% scientists]
Stanford University and Elsevier have published another edition of the ranking of researchers who have had the greatest impact on the development of science worldwide (the so-called TOP 2% list). We are delighted that every year more and more researchers from the University of Wrocław appear in this ranking.
The ranking presents both a list of the most influential scientists, taking into account their entire scientific career (career-long impact), and the most influential researchers in 2024 (single year impact). The former includes 28 scientists from the University of Wrocław, while the latter includes 25 researchers from our university. Last year, there were 27 researchers from the University of Wrocław on the ‘career-long impact’ list and 24 on the ‘single year impact’ list. The ranking is based on the Scopus database. When compiling the lists of the most influential scientists, analysts took into account a number of bibliographic indicators of varying weight, on the basis of which the so-called ‘composite score c’ was calculated, the value of which was the basis for classifying a scientist in a given position in the ranking.
The ranking took into account indicators such as: the number of citations (with and without self-citations), the Hirsch index, the hm index (a modified Hirsch index that takes into account the number of co-authors of an article), as well as an indicator of the position and role on the list of authors of a given publication.
The ranking presents the positions of scientists both without self-citations and with self-citations.
The researchers were classified according to 22 fields and 176 subfields of science.
