
UWr students elected their authorities
Elections to the regulatory bodies of the University of Wrocław Student Self-Government for the 2024-2026 term were held on 17-18 October.
They were conducted by the University Student Self-Government’s Election Committee and election commissioners. They were held in all 12 faculties, with a total of 133 candidates running. They ran for the following bodies:
– Faculty Head,
– Student Parliament,
– Faculty Student Self-Government Council.
The results were announced on 19 October and a total of 98 candidates won a seat.
There were 1,625 votes cast in the election, a turnout of about 8 percent.
The first meeting of the new term of the UWr Student Parliament was held on 30 October.
Parliament is the legislative body that has the authority to make the most important substantive and personnel decisions.
The meeting lasted more than eight hours. Two candidates for Chairperson of the Student Self-Government along with their proposed Boards of Directors presented their candidacies.
The following candidates ran for Chairperson: Kaja Kędzioł and Arkadiusz Smugowski and each received in turn: 10 votes for and 16 against, 16 votes for and 10 against.
During the meeting, a new University Board was elected, consisting of:
Arkadiusz Smugowski – Chairperson
Bartosz Rogacki – Vice-Chairperson
Wiktoria Giersz – Chairperson of the social affairs committee
Marta Trawczyńska – Chairperson of the teaching committee
Natalia Winogradow – Chairperson of the legal and financial committee.
