
Viadrina Preis for prof. Ruchniewicz
Prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz has been awarded the prestigious European Viadrina University in Frankfurt (Oder), Viadrina Preis for 2023.
Director of the CSNE and Head of the Department of Modern History, and a member of the Institute of History at the UWr, prof. Krzysztof Ruchniewicz was awarded the prestigious Viadrina Preis prize of the European University Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder), which has been granted since 1999.
Among other things, the justification highlighted his outstanding contribution to the German-Polish understanding and the European idea. The prize’s Board of Trustees decided to honour Prof Ruchniewicz as a ‘renowned researcher, committed educator, critical publicist and courageous intellectual who combines historical experience with a contemporary perspective’.
Award winners include Karl Dedecius, Günter Grass, Janusz Reiter, Markus Meckel, prof. Włodzimierz Borodziej, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Hans-Dietrich Genscher, prof. Anna Wolff-Powęska and others (for award winners see on the website).
The award is scheduled to be granted in late spring 2023.
