We are accepting applications for the grant of the Academic Award “Leopoldina”

The Academic Award “Leopoldina” was established in 2003 by the German-Polish Society of the University of Wrocław. The Award is granted to an author or authors of an outstanding academic work in humanities which features Polish-German or European themes and which was realized at the University of Wrocław.

Since 2015, the Award has been granted by the Norbert and Barbara Heisig Foundation. It amounts to PLN 20 000. The works submitted by the applicants must have been published or accepted for publication within the last two years.

The submitted work should make a substantial contribution to European culture, with a special focus on Polish-German themes.

The works will be judged by a six-person Committee consisting of Polish and German professors chosen by the Board of the Polish-German Society of the University of Wrocław. The Committee is called upon by the Board Chair of the Norbert and Barbara Heisig Foundation. After hearing the opinions and judgement of the Committee, the Chair, representing the Foundation, makes the final decision about granting the Award.

The Award is given out during the yearly Members’ Meeting of the Polish-German Society of the University of Wrocław.

All applications for the Award must be submitted at the Rector’s Office by 14 February 2025.
