We are celebrating Arqus Day for the first time!
On 18 October, the Arqus alliance of European universities celebrates its day – Arqus Day. This year, the University of Wrocław is celebrating it for the first time, as we joined the alliance in January 2022.
Why do we celebrate Arqus Day on this particular day? On 18 October 2019, the rectors’ council of the Arqus alliance was formally established in Granada. The creation of the alliance and the securing of funding for the initiative was also made public for the first time on this day.
In July 2022, the Alliance was awarded further funding through a European Commission competition. The €14.4 million funding will be used for staff and student mobility activities across the network’s member universities, the creation of a joint education and training offer and the development of new innovative activities to further develop the alliance between 2022 and 2026.
“European universities, are the universities of the future. By joining the Arqus alliance, we are giving our students the chance to benefit from new forms of education and mobility, and University of Wrocław employees the opportunity to form joint research groups and obtain additional funding for their research,” – Prof Patrycja Matusz, Vice-Rector for projects and international relations, comments.
On the occasion of Arqus Day, we would again like to invite all Arqus European University students to a special online session where the mobility programmes and activities available through the alliance will be presented. The event is organised by the University of Padua on the Zoom platform from 14:30- 16:00.
Happy Arqus Day!
