Workshop on East German socialist architecture in Cottbus

ICOMOS Germany (International Council on Monuments and Sites) is organizing a three-day student workshop entitled “Socialist Architecture in the Typological Development of East German Cities on the example of the Cottbus Town Hall.” The workshop will take place from April 3 to 5, 2023 at the BTU in Cottbus with the support of the Chair of Architectural Conservation at BTU-Cottbus (Brandenburg Technical University) and prof. dr Johanna Blokker. During the workshop, students will work in small groups, exploring past and future directions of the architectural socialist heritage.

In this process, they will be guided by their knowledge of architectural ethnography and cultural history, among others. Applications for participation in the project will be processed until March 1. For further information and terms of participation, click here.
