Wrocław NATO Summit

On December 5th and 6th, the University of Wrocław will host the Wrocław Security Summit 2023 – a scientific conference organised by the University of Wrocław’s Institute of International and Security Studies. It will be an event of international stature and will bring together specialists in international relations, security and military affairs. The conference is organised in cooperation with the NATO Headquarters and the European Parliament Office in Wrocław, and the event has received honorary patronage from the Rector of University of Wrocław, the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, the National Security Bureau, the Governor of Lower Silesia, the European Commission Representation in Poland and the Mayor of Wrocław.

This year’s event is the third edition of this conference, and the discussions will particularly focus on the strategic civilian and military cooperation between NATO and the EU after the annexation of Crimea in 2014, and the role of these two actors in maintaining global security. The Summit will bring together a large group of scholars and experts from Central and Eastern Europe, the United States, Canada, South Africa, Ukraine, Georgia, Greece, Turkey and Portugal for discussions on the challenges facing NATO and the EU. They will discuss, among others, NATO enlargement, cooperation between NATO and the EU in the context of the war in Ukraine, the challenges of China’s international activity, the role of climate change and sustainable development commitments for NATO and the EU.
