About lecture:
The arts encourage children to look at themselves and at their world, and to look at it in ways they may not have looked before. The arts enable children to articulate and develop at the same time, to make sense of their lives and worlds. How can we create and use the arts for and with children in meaningful ways? And what can we learn from children’s engagement with the arts? Based on Samina’s work as a writer, media practitioner and arts educator, her talk focuses on creation, curation, and collaboration with children to enable their voice and agency as well as to create a channel of communication across the adult-child split. Can this be one way to respond to challenges of our time?
