Passage of Dialogue

We sincerely invite you to our 1st meeting within the framework of “Filozoficzna Szkoła Przetrwania” (Philosophical School of Survival) with the theme ““Pop-stoicism” – a useful phenomenon or the downfall of philosophy?” held at the Passage of Dialogue.

During the discussion we will confront the phenomenon of “pop-stoicism” – short mass media forms that promote a modern version of stoicism. There are many controversies on this topic, such as the form of the message itself, or the competence of those promoting “pop-stoicism.” What in fact is this phenomenon?
– Flattening the essence of philosophy? Does pop-stoicism really downplay the deep principles of the ancient school?
– A sign of social progress? Do you find this phenomenon to be a sign of improvement in the quality of an individual’s life in society?
– Stoicism vs. epicureanism: Why has stoicism gained such popularity these days and not, for example, epicureanism? Is this preference rooted in modern social challenges?

We will consider all these questions and many more during an open discussion. Join us to share your thoughts, hear different perspectives and explore the differences between authentic stoicism and its modern interpretations.

Admission is free for anyone willing to participate in the discussion, or simply listen to a conversation on the topic. After the speeches of the formal participants of the debate, there will be time for questions from the audience as well.

In addition, for participating in at least 4 of the 6 meetings of the “Philosophical School of Survival”, links to which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/UWrKNFS/posts/pfbid0EWUouQ1cVfMrHn2Tf8XMkvdfwyFZnSrvRCUUV5ZhEhvv8i2n2fSvH4cdFtmBZNXfl you will receive a certificate of successful completion of the “Philosophical School of Survival” (at the first meeting you attend, we will gather emails from those willing to participate, or we will mark attendance)

Once again, together with the Passage of Dialogue, we sincerely invite you to the event. Should you have any questions, please write private messages to the Academic Association of Applied Philosophy.
