
Young Talents. The Grand Gala takes place this Monday at the University of Wrocław
Martyna Janaszek is a medical chemistry student at the University of Wrocław. But today, it’s not chemistry we’ll be talking about. Martyna is an athlete specialising in strength sports: bench press and powerlifting. She has been nominated for the “Young Talents” award in the category of sporting success.
– Sport has been a part of my life since childhood – says our student. – I trained in judo for over 10 years, winning, among other achievements, a bronze medal at the Polish Championships. After an injury, I began a new chapter in strength sports.
Since 2021, she has been a member of the National Team and represents Poland on the international stage.
– I have set four Polish records in classic and equipped bench press in the under-57 kg junior category (under 16, 18, and 20 years old) – Martyna lists.
Her most important international achievements include:
– Three-time World Champion in bench press (classic and equipped) – juniors under 18 and 23
– World Vice-Champion (under 18, OPEN category)
– Bronze medallist at the World Championships in classic bench press – juniors under 18
– European Champion in bench press – juniors under 18
– Three-time European Vice-Champion in bench press (classic and equipped) – juniors under 18 and 23
– Two-time bronze medallist at the European Championships – in powerlifting and classic bench press
National achievements:
– 22 medals at the Polish Championships (8 gold, 7 silver, 7 bronze)
– 9 medals at the Polish Cups (5 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze)
– Medallist at the World and European Team Championships (2nd place at Worlds, 1st and 2nd at Europeans)
In addition to strength sports, she loves travelling. – And hiking – it’s my way to recharge and gain perspective – says our student.
What does sport teach her?
– Perseverance, discipline, and consistency in pursuing goals – each training day brings me closer to making my dreams come true.

The Lower Silesian Capital Club has launched an initiative to promote and reward students and young researchers who have achieved notable success in science, the arts, social activity, business, or sport.
To this end, the “Young Talents” competition was established, with awards presented at the Grand Gala, held annually since 2017.
Awards in the “Young Talents” competition are presented in six categories:
– scientific success
– innovation success
– artistic success
– success in social activity
– success in entrepreneurial activity
= sporting success
The 2025 winners will be announced at the Grand Gala on 19 May 2025 at 19:00 in the Aula Leopoldina at the University of Wrocław.
The Competition Committee selected three nominees in each category from 61 submitted candidates. Congratulations to all the nominees!
