Invitation to the scientific conference entitled “Les survivances et les racines de Molière”
On the 400th anniversary of the birth of Molière, considered – along with Shakespeare – to be the father of modern theatre, researchers from the Institute of Romance Studies at the University of Wrocław, in collaboration with the Henryk Tomaszewski Theatre Museum and the French Institute in Poland, are organising a scientific conference entitled “Les survivances et les racines de Molière”. It will take place on 6-7 October at the premises of the Institute of Roman Studies and the Theatre Museum (see programme). The conference will bring together distinguished guests from at home and abroad: theatre scholars, philologists and art historians to reflect together on the phenomenon of Molière – the sources of the success of his plays and their continuing popularity.
All lovers of the playwright’s work and of theatre, both in its classical and contemporary forms, are welcome to attend. The conference will be held under the honorary patronage of prof. dr hab. Robert Olkiewicz, rector of the University of Wrocław, Frédéric Billet, Ambassador of France to Poland, and Audelin Chappuis, Director of the Polish branch of the French Institute.
