Prof. dr hab. Jan Sobczyk (born 19 October, 1955 in Wrocław)

Theoretical physicist, professor at the University of Wrocław, specialist in particle physics. Member of the T2K international experimental group located in Japan. Author and co-author of more than 150 scientific papers. Head of the Department of Neutrino Physics at the University of Wrocław. He is engaged in theoretical studies of neutrino interactions, while taking part in measurements carried out by experimental groups. His work focuses on increasing the precision of important experiments measuring neutrino oscillations. He has proposed new measurable quantities that make it possible to study nuclear effects in neutrino interactions. The most important experimental work was published by the American MINERvA group in the prestigious journal Physical Review Letters [X. Lu et al, PRL, 121 (2018) 022504] – one of the co-authors is prof. J. Sobczyk. The most important diagrams in this paper show the “reconstructed neutron momentum,” a quantity proposed in an earlier publication by prof. J. Sobczyk [A. Furmanski, J.T. Sobczyk, Physical Review C95 (2017) 065501].
