Arqus: Submit International Joint Studies project!

The Arqus University Alliance is pleased to invite all researchers interested in developing a joint Master’s or Bachelor’s programme to submit project proposals! Joint Programmes refer to the International Joint Studies, a term that encompasses a wide range of possibilities for creating study programms involving universities from different countries. Participation can take various forms, but two elements are crucial – the joint creation of the program and the involvement of students or staff from all participating universities. Students at various universities collaborating within Arqus pursue the same study programme.

Thanks to the Joint Study Programmes created by various member universities of the Arqus European University Alliance, students have the opportunity to gain academic and cultural experience abroad, enhance their language skills, develop new perspectives, and increase their chances in the increasingly global job market.

For participating universities, this opens up opportunities for increased collaboration in teaching and research, as well as the possibility of specialisation and expansion in a particular research area. Joint programmes provide an opportunity to combine the knowledge of all participating universities to offer unique programs resulting from academic complementarity, which are highly attractive to excellent students.

The Arqus European University Alliance invites all interested parties to submit project proposals by completing the online application form.

Applications should be submitted by the coordinating academic/university staff member, who will then coordinate the process of developing the joint programme and be responsible for project implementation and fund monitoring.

Application Period: February 15, 2024 – May 31, 2024.

Project Implementation Period: June 2024 – September 2026.

Newly implemented joint programmes should commence no later than the winter semester of 2026.

How to proceed?

We recommend following the guidelines of dr Małgorzata Dowlaszewicz from the Chair of Dutch Studies, who represents the University of Wrocław in the Arqus European University Alliance, within Package 6 “Arqus Learning Pathways.” She spoke to us about Joint Programmes, which are studies jointly created by Arqus member universities.

“Planning should start with three elements. The first is the programme idea – it can be a completely new study programme, but also an extension or specification of an existing program. The second element is finding a partner. Arqus Communities of Practice are helpful here. If we are a member of such a community, finding partners offering classes in a similar topic will be easy. Otherwise, you can contact coordinators from individual universities or look for people close to our interests on dedicated Padlet. The third element is the administrative aspect – on the one hand, gaining support from superiors (it’s worth discussing the idea with the Director or Manager, and then also with the Dean), and on the other hand, identifying individuals responsible for administrative elements. In our university, these are primarily the Teaching Department and the International Office, but Dean’s Offices also play a crucial role.” – says dr Małgorzata Dowlaszewicz.

You can find all necessary information about Joint Programmes on the Arqus website.
