The Tudors from Dresden at the Oratorium Marianum – a reading of Anita Barrows’ Poems for Gaza

A student theatre group from Dresden – The TUDORS (Technische Universität Dresden Off their Rockers Shakespeareans) – is coming to Wrocław to present a special artistic event entitled Poems for Gaza.

The performance will take the form of a public reading of poems by the American poet Anita Barrows – a recipient of awards including those from the National Endowment for the Arts, a psychologist, and a long-standing social justice activist. The cycle was written in direct response to the dramatic events in Gaza – notes transformed into poetry, documenting human experiences of war, loss and hope.

The event will take place on 5 March 2026 at 6.30 pm in the Oratorium Marianum of the University of Wrocław. The Wrocław performance forms part of an international artistic collaboration between Dresden, Coventry and Wrocław. The event in Wrocław is organised, among others, by the University of Wrocław – the Institute of English Studies and the Institute of Romance Studies, Faculty of Philology.

Admission is free.

Founded in 2016, The TUDORS is a student ensemble from TU Dresden, known for its ambitious theatrical productions – from Shakespeare to contemporary drama – staged both in Germany and abroad. On this occasion, the group invites audiences to a shared, reflective encounter with poetry written “day by day” in response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
