Call for applications for a research scholarship within the NCN project:
“Chodzenie do kina w Polsce pod okupacją niemiecką. Programowanie kin i preferencje filmowe wieloetnicznych publiczności miejskich podczas drugiej wojny światowej na przykładzie Krakowa, Warszawy i Lwowa”
Host Institution: University of Wrocław, Willy Brandt Centre for German and European Studies
Position: Scholarship holder — student/doctoral candidate
Requirements
- Student or doctoral candidate status
- Fluent command of Polish and Ukrainian
- Good knowledge of German
- Interest in contextual film history
- Interest in the history of the German occupation
- Ability to work with diligence and accuracy
- Strong analytical skills
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel
Description of Tasks
- Research on the newspapers Lvivski Visti and Gazeta Lwowska (available online)
- Systematic analysis of cinema programmes in Lviv for Ukrainian and Polish audiences
- Identification of film titles using available databases
- Entering repertory data into Excel
- Searching for information in the press and academic literature (especially Ukrainian sources)
- Translation from Ukrainian into Polish
- Participation in preparing a scholarly article (together with the project leader)

Terms of Employment
Estimated workload: 0.5 FTE
Scholarship agreement
Funding period: 12 months (1 December 2022 – 30 November 2023)
Monthly stipend: PLN 2,500 (gross)

Interviews will be held in the second half of November 2022 at the Willy Brandt Centre (ul. Strażnicza 1-3, Wrocław) or via Zoom.
