Jakub Szabunia’s master’s thesis entitled “Podmiotowość prawnomiędzynarodowa sportowych organizacji pozarządowych,” written under the supervision of prof. Barbara Mielnik of the Department of International and European Lawat the Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław was awarded in the 10th “Olympic Logos” Competition. Does a person need a mystery? What is Christmas all about and how do we find its meaning in times of excess? On the occasion of Christmas, we speak with dr Paweł Wróblewski – philosopher of religion, researcher of early Christian culture, who directs the activities of the UWr Institute of Philosophy and Centre for Prognostic Research on Religious Changes.

Christmas is a special time when the sacred and the profane are intertwined in one unique narrative. This special time has been reflected in literature, music, art and rituals for centuries. In Christian iconography, the scene of the Nativity of Jesus occupies a special and unique place. The exhibition Christmas in Special Collections presented on this occasion at BUWr invites you to travel through the mystical visions and imaginings of artists contained in the collection of old prints, musicals, manuscripts, prints and cartographic collections.

The researchers hope that the results of this project will contribute to the development of new devices which will allow for an effective combat with chemical pollution of the environment. A project in collaboration of University of Wrocław with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań will be funded by NCN, as part of Opus contest an amount of PLN 2 245 044 was allocated for the project.

Among the 60 applications selected for funding by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the ‘Pearls of Science II’ programme, there were four from our University. The grants will go to our young scholars and researchers Magdalena Szmitka, Jagna Rita Sobel, Kacper Rosner – Leszczyński and Bartosz Rusin.

In this year’s edition of Ulam NAWA programme, scholarships were given to 60 researchers form 26 countries,the Ulam NAWA programme, scholarships were given to 60 researchers from 26 countries who will visit Polish universities and research centres.
