On 31.12.2024, Kazimiera (Grażyna) Małkowicz, a long-standing employee of the Bursar’s Office of the University of Wrocław, died at the age of 90.
Mass will be held in the chapel of the Osobowicki Cemetery in Wrocław on 09.01.2025 at 11.20 a.m. The mass will be followed by the escort of the deceased to her resting place, as sadly announced by her family.
As many as 12 sizable grants will go to UWr from the last Opus NCN distribution in 2024. Congratulations to our researchers!
Jakub Szabunia’s master’s thesis entitled “Podmiotowość prawnomiędzynarodowa sportowych organizacji pozarządowych,” written under the supervision of prof. Christmas is a special time when the sacred and the profane are intertwined in one unique narrative. This special time has been reflected in literature, music, art and rituals for centuries. In Christian iconography, the scene of the Nativity of Jesus occupies a special and unique place. The exhibition Christmas in Special Collections presented on this occasion at BUWr invites you to travel through the mystical visions and imaginings of artists contained in the collection of old prints, musicals, manuscripts, prints and cartographic collections.
The researchers hope that the results of this project will contribute to the development of new devices which will allow for an effective combat with chemical pollution of the environment. A project in collaboration of University of Wrocław with Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań will be funded by NCN, as part of Opus contest an amount of PLN 2 245 044 was allocated for the project.
Among the 60 applications selected for funding by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education as part of the ‘Pearls of Science II’ programme, there were four from our University. At the beginning of December, the University of Wrocław Press published a scholarly publication by prof. Jarosław Syrnyk, professor of history, employee of the Institute of Ethnology and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Wrocław and Rector’s representative for cooperation with Ukraine. The book entitled Łemkowskie Rozdroże (eng. Lemko Crossroads)is a continuation of the issues raised in two earlier monographs: Przemoc i chaos. Powiat sanocki i okolice w latach 1944-1947. Analiza anropologiczno-historyczna (ed. Institute of National Remembrance, Warsaw-Wrocław 2020) and Trójkąt bieszczadzki. Tysiąc dni i tysiąc nocy anarchii w powiecie leskim 1944-1947 (ed. Libra Pl, Rzeszów 2018). Lemko Crossroads focuses on the events of 1944-1947, as well as on later attempts to mythologise these events for the use of specific ideologies. In this year’s edition of Ulam NAWA programme, scholarships were given to 60 researchers form 26 countries,the Ulam NAWA programme, scholarships were given to 60 researchers from 26 countries who will visit Polish universities and research centres.
