UL: Competitions and prizes
Nikola Żak chose to study European Diplomacy because she wants, in the future, to be present in the rooms where decisions are made and to have a real impact on improving the world around her. An IDUB grant for a trip to Qatar was her first step into such a room. Meet Nikola Żak, the latest ambassador of the “Young Researcher” programme at the University of Wrocław.
The monograph by Patrycja Grzebyk (University of Warsaw), Bartłomiej Krzan (Faculty of Law, Administration and Economics of the University of Wrocław) and Karolina Wierczyńska (Polish Academy of Sciences), entitled “Polski dorobek w zakresie międzynarodowego prawa karnego w latach 1918-2018”, was awarded first prize in the Competition for the Best History Book organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The aim of the competition ‘The best of the best – in search of teaching excellence’, organised as part of the Initiative of Excellence – Research University programme, is to improve the quality of education and promote best practices in teaching at the University of Wrocław. The project “W kierunku stosowalnych nadprzewodzących stopów o wysokiej entropii o wysokich gęstościach prądu krytycznego” (eng. ‘Towards applicable high-entropy superconducting alloys with high critical current densities’) has received support from the National Science Centre. The Miniature grant will go to dr Piotr Sobota, assistant professor at the Department of Nuclear Physics and Dielectrics of the Institute of Experimental Physics of the UWr Faculty of Physics and Astronomy.
From among eight candidates put forward by twenty Polish universities participating in the “Excellence Initiative – Research University” programme, the Prize Committee has selected two nominees for the third edition of the Heisig Prize, also known as the “Polish Nobel”, the most prestigious financial award for a Polish scientist. The winner, who will receive 200,000 PLN, will be announced on 1 October 2025 at the University of Wrocław.
