UL: Scientific lectures and research
Passengers on Wrocław’s MPK will be able to turn their daily commute to school, work, or shopping into a real journey through time. An educative campaign marking the Women’s History Month is currently being launched by a team led by dr Dorota Wiśniewska, assistant professor at the Historical Institute of the University of Wrocław, in cooperation with the Public Transport Company in Wrocław.
On 10-12 February 2026, the Faculty of Chemistry of the University of Wrocław hosted the MOFebruary 2026 Symposium, focused on research into porous materials, including MOFs (eng. Metal-Organic Frameworks). The event was a gesture of recognition by the Polish scientific community towards the winners of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry: Richard Robson, Omar Yaghi, and Susumu Kitagawa. The initiative to integrate the Polish MOF community was met with an enthusiastic response from many scientists – over 70 participants representing numerous universities and research institutes from Poland and abroad took part in the symposium.
The Day of Polish Science was established in 2020, and the day – 19th of February – was chosen because it is Mikołaj Kopernik’s birthday. The culmination of this holiday was the Gala of Polish Science, held on February 20th at the Polish Theatre in Warsaw, during which scholars from the University of Wroclaw were commended with prestigious Minister of Science and Higher Education awards. Prizes were awarded for achievements in scientific, educational, implemental, organizational work, and overall achievements.
On Thursday, 19 February, the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław hosted the 3rd Wrocław Luminescence Seminar (WSL). The event brought together experts in electron spectroscopy and young researchers from three key institutions: the University of Wrocław, Wrocław University of Science and Technology, and the Institute of Low Temperature and Structure Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The staff of the Faculty of Biotechnology are pleased to invite you to a lecture by Robert Zarnowski, PhD (University of Wisconsin–Madison, USA), entitled “The Untold Story of eDNA in Candida Biofilm Extracellular Vesicles”. The lecture will take place on 24 February at 1.00 p.m. in Lecture Hall 1.05 of the Faculty of Biotechnology, University of Wrocław (ul. F. Joliot-Curie 14a). Dr Zarnowski is visiting the University of Wrocław under the “Visiting Professors” programme (IDUB).
The Institute of Polish Studies at the University of Wrocław, together with the Society of Friends of Wrocław Polish Studies, invites you to the 30th edition of the popular-science lecture series in Polish studies, “Meetings at Nehring Hall”, organised in the 2025/2026 academic year.
