The transformation of EU’s external borders in the face of the changing world order
The immigration crises resulted in restrictions around numerous European borders. Additionally, the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a continuous tendency to (once again) close and seal them. Surprisingly, the war in Ukraine allowed for the borders to be opened for refugees within the area, but – at the same time – it revised the previously dominant approach towards the border dynamics in international relations within Europe. The lecture aims to discuss the new approach to studying the European border dynamics, take a better look at the traditional studying approaches to international relations and combine them with the dominant (until recently) perspectives of border studies.
