The first joint Polish-German meeting of doctoral students from the University of Wrocław and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf is taking place in Wrocław on 19-21 October 2022 under the name HZDR PhD Seminar 2022. It is a unique opportunity to establish scientific contacts and gain inspiration for future research and long-term activities aimed at building a network of research and personal connections with long-term significance.
In July of this year, a joint CASUSCON conference was organised for the first time in Wrocław, the brainchild of the University of Wrocław and the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf. The initiative received organisational and financial support from the Ministry of Education and Science and the Saxon State Ministry of Science. The aim was to strengthen cooperation between the above-mentioned centres by establishing contacts for broadening research activities through cross-border cooperation. Its next step is to activate doctoral students from both the UWr and HZDR.
The seminar brought together more than 100 participants representing diverse scientific disciplines and research interests at the Scandic Hotel. The event plan includes scientific presentations, poster sessions and workshops on science popularisation and professional development in academia. Shared activities for networking and making research contacts are also planned.
HZDR PhD Seminar 2022 on 19 October was opened by: prof. Artur Błażejewski, Vice-Rector for research at the University of Wrocław and prof. Eugeniusz Zych from the Faculty of Chemistry at the UWr. On the evening of the same day, they also gave speeches under the joint title Inventing the Future: Cross-Border Alliance Strategy on plans for scientific cooperation between the two research centres and prospects for its future development.
