Scholarships for outstanding young scientists
From 1 December to 31 December 2022, applications can be submitted as part of a competition for scholarships from the minister responsible for higher education and science for outstanding young scientists.
The Minister’s Scholarship for Outstanding Young Scientists may be awarded to a young scientist demonstrating significant achievements in scientific activity.
The scholarship application module will be launched in OSF on 1 December 2022. It is not possible to see how the system works before then.
Applications for the signature of the His Magnificent Rector can be submitted until 20 December 2022 (internal deadline).
Due to the organisation of work at the University, it will not be possible to obtain the Rector’s signature between 24 – 31.12.2022.
A young researcher is a person engaged in scientific activity who:
is a doctoral student or academic staff member and does not hold a doctoral degree, or
holds a doctoral degree, less than seven years since obtaining it, and is employed at the University of Wrocław.
NOTE!
1. The employment referred to above shall be understood as employment under a contract of employment.
2. The period of the aforementioned 7 years does not include:
– periods of maternity leave, leave under the conditions of maternity leave, paternity leave, parental leave or parental leave granted under the conditions laid down in the Labour Code, or
– periods of maternity benefit or parental benefit, or
– periods of sickness benefit or rehabilitation benefit due to incapacity for work, including those due to illness requiring medical rehabilitation.
The 7-year period is calculated from the date (and not the year) of obtaining the doctoral degree. Thus, a person who obtained his or her doctoral degree on, for example, 15 November 2015 and did not have the above-mentioned breaks in his or her scientific activity would lose his or her young researcher status on 15 November 2022.
The status of the young researcher will be verified as at the date of the application and as at the date of the Minister’s decision to award the scholarship.
The current application procedure assumes that both the candidate for the scholarship and the Rector, who represents UWr, the applicant, participate in this activity. The candidate’s task is to prepare an application in the ZSUN/OSF system and generate a pdf file to be sent to: bozena.tyton@uwr.edu.pl. The file, signed by the Rector (with an electronic signature), will be sent back to the candidate’s mailbox in order for the person preparing the application to complete its submission in the ZSUN/OSF system.
