The Moon and Mars at the Institute of Political Science in a multidisciplinary way

On 26-27 October, the Institute of Political Science will host the next scientific event conducted at our university in the HORIZONT MARS series. This time in the form of a two-day scientific conference on human activity beyond Earth. Start at 9:45. Conference title: Moon and Mars, as the closest stages of exploration and development of the Solar System. Perspectives: global, European, national, Lower Silesian.

This is a subject rarely dealt with by political scientists so far. The conference is therefore multidisciplinary in nature. It will be opened by an opening panel featuring the President of the Polish Space Agency, prof. Grzegorz Wrochna, Vice President of the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, prof. Piotr Orleański, dr Anna Fogtman from the European Astronaut Centre (EAC) in Cologne – the European Space Agency, dr Agata Kołodziejczyk – Research Assistant Professor at the Space Technology Centre of the AGH University of Science and Technology, and space business representatives such as the President and founder of SatRev Grzegorz Zwoliński. The panel will be chaired by Andrzej Kotarski of Mars Society Poland, who has been involved in the space sector for many years.

Then, in a separate panel, the floor will be given to planetologists and space mining specialists. It will be led by dr Jakub Ciążela from the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences. Specialists in both these celestial bodies and their exploration and future exploitation will present their papers, including geologists such as dr Anna Łosiak of ING PAN, dr Marta Ciążela of ING PAN, dr Gordon Wasilewski of Astronika, prof. Karol Seweryn of the Space Research Centre of PAN, and Maciej Fitt of ING PAN

Other panels will be open to representatives of various disciplines, including political scientists and lawyers, among others. However, the organisers are of course also counting on the participation of representatives from the technical, scientific and biological sciences. The closing date for the submission of abstracts (application sheets) is 30 September. The conference organisers are: Institute of Political Science, Mars Society Poland and Polish Society for European Studies o. Wrocław. The overall coordinator is dr hab. Bartosz Smolik from the Institute of Political Science.
