    Dr inż. Piotr Kryczka from the Department of Social and Economic Geography of the University of Wrocław has found himself among the hundred most talented Polish scientists before turning thirty. He has received the Foundation for Polish Science scholarship in the START 2025 contest.

    The Foundation for Polish Science has announced the results of the 1/2024 call for proposals under the FIRST TEAM activity funded by the National Centre for Research and Development. A total of 174 projects were submitted for the call, and funding (amounting to nearly PLN 71 million) was awarded to 18 projects. Among them is “PROT-TOWING: opracowanie innowacyjnej technologii molekularnego holowania do selektywnej inaktywacji chorobotwórczych białek (eng. PROT-TOWING: Development of Innovative Molecular Tugging Technology for Selective Inactivation of Pathogenic Proteins)”, a project led by prof. Łukasz Opaliński from the Faculty of Biotechnology.     Dr Anna Grochowska from the Department of Spatial Planning of the UWr Institute of Geography and Regional Development, together with a team of dr hab. Sylwia Dołzbłasz, prof. UWr (UWr Department of Land Management), dr Aneta Marek (UWr Department of Regional Geography and Tourism), and prof. Francesco Pagliacci (Università degli Studi di Padova), received a NAWA 2024 Intervention Grant in January for the project: ‘Flood risk awareness and management: the analysis of the effectiveness of measures and public perception’.

    The Minister’s Lifetime Achievement Award is an individual award that enjoys great prestige in the community. It is a recognition of the laureate’s achievements, which have left a measurable and recognisable contribution to science. The Faculty of Chemistry at the University of Wrocław and the Polish Association of Chemical Engineers – Wrocław Branch are organising a unique competition for science enthusiasts for the third time.

    The Artificial Intelligence Olympiad is a competition directed to students of Polish high schools. It is also a unique opportunity to support young talents – people who are just entering the world of AI and want to expand their knowledge, gain new experiences and develop their skills at the highest level. The aim of the competition is to popularize the key knowledge and technologies underlying artificial intelligence. The first stage will begin on February 17.
