International Interdisciplinary Conference: “The Future Is Now. Poland – Ukraine – Europe: New Paradigm”

On 20–22 May 2026, an international interdisciplinary academic conference devoted to current political, social, legal and cultural transformations in Central and Eastern Europe will be held in Wrocław. The conference will address these issues in the context of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and Ukraine’s integration process with the European Union. The event is organised by the Wrocław University Center for Polish-Ukrainian Cooperation and the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Literatures in cooperation with other faculties of the University of Wrocław as well as numerous national and international partners. The conference will be held under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship and the Mayor of Wrocław.

The aim of the conference is to create an international platform for dialogue for researchers, experts, representatives of academic communities, local government and civil society who are interested in issues related to the new geopolitical paradigm of the region, the reconstruction of Ukraine, European security, democracy, law, culture, the economy and education. The event will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the future of Polish–Ukrainian and European cooperation in the face of ongoing challenges and integration processes. At the same time, the conference will inaugurate the activities of the Centre for Polish–Ukrainian Cooperation of the University of Wrocław, which was established earlier this year.

The organisers invite researchers representing various academic disciplines to participate, as well as students, doctoral candidates and early-career researchers, for whom a separate student–doctoral panel has been planned. The programme will also include plenary sessions, master seminars and accompanying events, including translation workshops, a photography exhibition and artistic events.

Applications to participate in the conference should be submitted by 31 January 2026. Participants are required to submit the title and abstract of their paper (200–300 words), together with keywords and a short biographical note (up to 80 words), in Polish, Ukrainian or English. Authors will be informed of the acceptance of their papers by 20 February 2026.

The conference languages are Polish, Ukrainian and English. The conference fee is PLN 450 / EUR 100, and PLN 300 / EUR 75 for students and doctoral candidates; participants from Ukraine are exempt from the fee. Detailed organisational information and contact details are available from the conference organisers.
