The Institute of Archaeology at the UWr Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences, invites you on Friday, 5 September 2025, to two open lectures as part of the Visiting Professors programme, implemented under the Excellence Initiative – Research University project.

As part of the visiting professors programme implemented under the Initiative of Excellence – Research University project, the Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Wrocław will host Prof. Ben Boyd from Monash University (Australia).

Obesity is a global problem, but in Poland it is an especially important issue for consideration. Hence, Wroclaw Medical University introduces the health campaign raising awareness about obesity, which is supported by the University of Wrocław.

The project “W kierunku stosowalnych nadprzewodzących stopów o wysokiej entropii o wysokich gęstościach prądu krytycznego” (eng. ‘Towards applicable high-entropy superconducting alloys with high critical current densities’) has received support from the National Science Centre. The Miniature grant will go to dr Piotr Sobota, assistant professor at the Department of Nuclear Physics and Dielectrics of the Institute of Experimental Physics of the UWr Faculty of Physics and Astronomy.

Applications are open until 31 August for the third edition of the IDUB Teaching Award. In this article, we present an interview about didactics in the administration field with the winner of the IDUB first edition teaching award – dr hab. Magdalena Tabernacka, prof. UWr from the Institute of Administrative Sciences. Prof. Tabernacka received IDUB teaching award also for co-authoring the publication “Europa, dialog i perspektywy młodych ludzi w zwierciadle wyników badań prowadzonych w projekcie GANESA”.

An international research team led by dr Łukasz Stachnik from the Institute of Geography and Regional Development at the University of Wrocław argues that valley glaciers may make an important contribution to the supply of nutrients to Arctic ecosystems. The team’s findings have been published in the journal Chemical Geology.

Bartosz Rusin, our doctoral student, has been awarded the Arkadiusz Piekara Prize of the Polish Physical Society for his master’s thesis devoted to materials that may revolutionise superconducting technology.

We returned safe and sound, enchanted by the Arctic, full of energy and ready for new challenges. It’s hard to capture in a short text all the wonderful moments we experienced up there in the far north. Perhaps these recollections in the form of a logbook (yes, we kept one) can convey at least some of the emotions we felt.

Among the new members of the Academy of Young Scholars and Artists is our doctoral student, Kacper Rosner-Leszczyński. Membership of the Academy is open to individuals under the age of 35 who have distinguished themselves with outstanding academic achievements. Each term of office lasts five years.
