From 19 to 22 October, the Centre for Research on the Ancient World at the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences will host Professor Julien Faguer from Université Paris Nanterre. The visit, organised at the invitation of dr Dominika Grzesik, is funded under the IDUB project’s “Visiting Professors” programme. Professor Faguer is the author of numerous publications devoted to the epigraphic culture and economy of ancient Greece, and has taken part in and led archaeological missions in Delphi and Delos.

The Faculty of Languages, Literatures and Cultures invites to an open lecture by Dr Guillermo Sánchez Ungidos (Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha), held as part of the IDUB programme. Aleksandra Nowakowska from Université Paul-Valéry Montpellier 3, held as part of the IDUB – Visiting Professor programme. The lecture, entitled Comment le dialogisme révèle-t-il l’épaisseur du discours ? Distinguished scientists from the Centre of Molecular and Environmental Biology, Minho University, Braga, Portugal, will be our guests on October 21st and October 22nd, 2025.

On 3 October 2025, the 20th Polish-Belarusian Academic and Practical Round Table, entitled “Shaping Civil Society in Belarus and the Polish Experience of Transformation,” took place at the Institute of International and Security Studies of the Faculty of Social Sciences.

We asked professor Ewa Marcinkowska from the Faculty of Biotechnology at the University of Wrocław – an expert conducting research at the interface of haematology and immunology, focusing on therapies inducing the maturation of blasts in acute myeloid leukaemia – to explain what the immune system is all about and why research into it is so demanding and multifaceted.

As part of the Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) programme, the Faculty of Neophilology will host Professor Catriona Seth from the University of Oxford, a distinguished scholar of eighteenth-century literature and culture. During her visit, Professor Seth will deliver two open lectures in English, both held at the Institute of Romance Studies (pl. Nankiera 4).

Martyna Janaszek, a student at the University of Wrocław, has won a gold medal and the title of European Champion under-23 in bench press. The championships were held in late September in Malta.

The Department of Early Childhood and Primary Education at the Institute of Pedagogy of the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences invites to an open lecture by Professor Emma Pearson from Maynooth University (Froebel Department of Primary and Early Childhood Education) entitled Preparing Children and Teachers for Sustainable Futures through Ethics of Care.
