    In the new UWr Talks episode, this time in English, we answer the questions: what is a career, if it does not come down only to positions and titles? How to build an international path? And how to use the experience from all education stages as a one coherent whole?

    In Samarkand, the 3rd Poland-Uzbekistan Rectors’ Forum has started – one of the most important events connecting Europe and Central Asia. The forum attended by ministers, rectors and representatives of dozens of universities from both countries and representatives from scientific communities from the entire region aims at the development of partnerships, initiating joint research projects, as well as strengthening internationalisation in higher education in the context of deepening cooperation between the European Union and Central Asia.

    Professor Wojciech Soliński is a translator, as well as a literary and translation scholar. He is also an Italophile and a Bohemophile, observing – especially – of the ups and downs in Polish reception of the works of Umberto Eco and Bohumil Hrabal. He prefers reading to writing, and is a detached observer of evil, which presently occupies the world of sport.

    On 9 and 10 April at the University of Wrocław an international meeting dedicated to works on a study programme under the name “Sustainable development” took place.

And although frogs, newts, and toads are our greatest allies in the fight against mosquitoes, they are the most endangered group of vertebrates in the world. The City of Wrocław, in collaboration with scientists and naturalists from the University of Wrocław, is launching the campaign “SKUMAJ TO!” (“Get it!”), which teaches how to spot amphibians in the urban jungle and effectively protect them from extinction.

    On 9 April 2026 in Oratorium Marianum an inauguration conference for the Lower Silesian EURAXESS Network project took place. The project is funded by FERS and is a part of the NAWA – EURAXESS Network program. The event, organised by the International Office, has gathered the representatives of the academic community and regional institutions, as well as scientists interested in the internationalisation of research and academic mobility.

    A new edition of the scholarship program focused on sustainable development initiatives has been launched, funded by InPost For Cities program. The initiative was created to support cooperation between businesses with local governments and to promote initiatives that improve the residents’ quality of life. The program enables awarding scholarships to individuals actively involved in sustainable development issues.

    On behalf of the Science Department, we inform that the applications for the Scientific Award of the President of Wrocław are currently being accepted. The award was established with the goal of supporting outstanding scientific and artistic achievements of the Wrocław academic community.     On 13 May 2026, the 23rd edition of the Not only Slavic Song Contest will take place in the Oratorium Marianum, organised by the Institute of Slavic Studies, SKNR WroSlawianie, the Culture and Art Centre in Wrocław, International Office of the University of Wrocław, and the Centre for Student and Doctoral Activities of the University of Wrocław. The contest has been granted the Honorary Patronage of the UWr Rector, prof. dr hab. Robert Olkiewicz.
