The upcoming Christmas season holds a special place in the liturgical year of the Church, and the music associated with it is one of the central fields of musicological research. Throughout the centuries, the Christmas repertoire not only served a utilitarian role in church services, but also reflected the stylistic, aesthetic, and cultural transformations occurring in church music of particular periods.
Archaeological works connected with a new investment of the University of Wrocław, located at the junction of Kuźnicza and Uniwersytecka Streets, on the site of the former Kalogródek area, are coming to an end. In the final stage of the research, the remains of a tenement house erected in 1866 were uncovered. The building was destroyed during the siege of the city in 1945.
On 9 December, the Aula Leopoldina of the University of Wrocław hosted the concert “Artists for an Artist”, dedicated to the Senior Rector of the University of Wrocław, professor Adam Jezierski. The event had a formal academic character and served as a symbolic summary of the professor’s many years of presence in the scholarly and cultural life of the University.

The fourth call of the Virtual Research Institute (WIB) has been concluded. An international panel of experts awarded the highest score to the project “Personalised antibody–drug conjugates activated by matrix metalloproteinases for solid tumours (PACMAN)”, submitted by a consortium of research institutions from Wrocław and Warsaw. Funding of PLN 72,854,995 has been allocated to the project from the Polish Science Fund.
On Thursday, 11 December 2025, prof. dr hab. Jacek Semaniak, Rector of Jan Kochanowski University of Kielce during the terms 2012-2016 and 2016-2020, passed away. He was an outstanding individual and scholar, a long-serving rector, and a member of the Science Policy Committee at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education in the years 2020-2022. Since 2020, he had held the position of President of the Central Office of Measures (GUM).
