We are pleased to announce that the University of Wrocław was successful in the prestigious “Wektory Nauki” contest organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. In this year’s edition, our university received financial support for two scientific projects.

The major in Spatial Economics conducted at the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Environmental Management at the University of Wrocław succeeded on the international stage. The fact that the major received the prestigious AESOP Quality Recognition (QR) certificate for the years 2025-2031 proves that the quality of education realized as part of the programme meets the highest European standards for planning education. Moreover, it corresponds to the modern requirements placed on universities that educate future specialists in the field of spatial planning.

The award ceremony of the Felicija Bortkevičienė Language Prize took place at the Palace of the Grand Dukes in Vilnius. The 2025 recipient of the prize was dr Tatjana Vologdina, Head of the Centre for Lithuanian Language and Culture Studies at the University of Wrocław. The award was granted in recognition of her significant contribution to promoting the Lithuanian language and culture beyond the country’s borders, as well as for nurturing Lithuanian academic and cultural traditions in the diaspora.

On 12 December, we will host a creative meeting with Andrei Khadanovich entitled “Contraband of Hope”. The event will focus on the power of words and the sources of hope, the kind we carry across borders and through bans like contraband.

On November 28th, the National Science Centre (NCN) announced the results of the PRELUDIUM 24 competition. Among the awardees are as many as twelve doctoral students from the University of Wrocław. Congratulations!

During the official opening of the 33rd Historical Book Fair in Warsaw, held on 27 November 2025 in the Great Hall of the Royal Castle, the final results of the KLIO Award 2025 were announced and the prizes were presented to the laureates.

We are proud to announce that the project Spektroskopowe markery prebiotyczne i fotochemiczna ewolucja w astromikrośrodowiskach gaz–lód has received funding of PLN 2,430,240 in the NCN SHENG 4 competition. On the Polish side, the project is led by prof. dr Małgorzata Biczysko, and carried out by the Molecular Spectroscopy and Photochemistry Group, consisting of dr Justyna Krupa, dr Magdalena Pagacz-Kostrzewa, dr hab. Magdalena Sałdyka and dr Karolina Mucha. The Chinese partners are researchers from Chongqing University, headed by prof. Qian Gou.

The University of Wrocław Academic Scientific Associations Council cordially invites you to the latest edition of the Academic Scientific Associations Fair – the largest event dedicated to student academic societies and organisations of Leopoldina!

The rowing section of the University of Wrocław has once again showcased excellent form. In the Lower Silesian Inter-University League, the UWr women’s team won gold, while the men’s team claimed third place.

On Tuesday, 2 December, we invite all physics enthusiasts to attend a lecture by prof. Karol Życzkowski from Jagiellonian University, entitled: „Przeglądając się w zakurzonej szybie… Determinizm w mechanice klasycznej i kwantowej”. 

The astronaut Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski visited Wrocław in November as part of his technological-scientific tour “IGNIS – Polska sięga gwiazd”. Students and doctoral students from the University of Wrocław attended the meeting.
