On 21 August 2025, the University of Wrocław signed an agreement with P.B. Alfa Dach Sp. z o.o. for the construction of the Polish–Ukrainian Cooperation Centre, a facility that will include teaching areas and a library for the Faculty of Historical and Pedagogical Sciences (specifically, the Institute of Musicology). The building will be located at ul. Kuźnicza 29b.

People who meet their partners on the internet may experience lower marital satisfaction and feel love less intensely than those who meet in person. At least, that is what emerges from research conducted by an international team of scientists led by dr Marta Kowal from the UWr Institute of Psychology.

We are speaking with the laureate of the first edition of the award – dr hab. Katarzyna Majbroda, prof. UWr, a literary scholar and anthropologist, whose interests include theories and methodologies in the humanities and social sciences, open education, environmental anthropology, posthumanism and citizen science.

The Department of Human Biology is carrying out another project under the direction of prof. Bogusław Pawłowski, focusing on the signalling significance of traits linked to male sex hormone levels. This time, however, the study group consists of men aged 50 and over. To collect the data required for the project funded by the National Science Centre (OPUS21) – “Kondycja biologiczna mężczyzn w średnim wieku jako wskaźnik zdolności organizmu do poniesienia fizjologicznych kosztów maskulinizacji” – a questionnaire has been prepared for people aged 18+, containing several questions concerning assessments of presented male faces.

In July 2025, the University of Tokyo completed the excavation of a vast underground cavern that will house Hyper-Kamiokande, a massive neutrino detector. The cavern is located 600 metres below ground near the city of Hida in Gifu Prefecture, Japan. Our university is involved in this ambitious undertaking.

Students and researchers from the University of Wrocław, aboard the STS Generał Zaruski, have reached the halfway point of the GeoArctic Expedition on Spitsbergen. On 3 August, the team moored in Ny-Ålesund, the northernmost permanently inhabited settlement in the world, where they will remain for two days due to stormy winds. This stop provides a well-earned rest after a challenging yet highly successful week at sea—a week marked by the accomplishment of both scientific objectives and essential training in Arctic conditions for the ship’s crew.

At the end of July 2025, the prestigious publishing house Routledge released the monograph Women in Populist Rhetoric, edited by professor Agnieszka Kasińska-Metryka and dr Karolina Pałka-Suchojad. This publication makes a significant contribution to research on populism and political communication, focusing on how women are portrayed, instrumentalised, and represented in populist rhetoric across different regions of the world.
